She performed Simon & Garfunkel's Bridge Over Troubled Water. She performed it with so much emotion and connection, that she projected so brilliantly. She was just amazing. | In Defense of American Idol.. | | I am excited about American Idol’s upcoming show this week, for many star performances are to benefit those in need. Some of the performers are Annie Lenox, No Doubt, and there is even a surprise appearance by Celine Dion! My friends and I are anticipating what will happen, for we each have our individual favorites. I know I do! It is great that American Idol is doing something to give back to the community, and I know I will be watching tonight and tomorrow! In defense of American Idol and recent publicity, perhaps audiences should think twice before being critical of singers and the show. One reason is because it is often easier to comment when you are not in the hot seat yourself. Could you get up there and sing? I know I am not ready for that. And even though Sanjaya was voted one of the worst singers this season by more than the American public, neither the viewers nor the audiences are doing the singing in front of the cameras and complete strangers. In addition, just because a vote isn’t going your way, doesn’t give anyone the right to critique without considering all the facts, the least of all a fan’s musical biases.
