myLot Discussions| Boycotting Chris Brown's music! | | My favorite radio station will no longer play any songs by Chris Brown because of the recent incident, where he allegedly attacked and hit Rihanna.I for one think this is absolutely ridiculous!This radio station plays music by artists who've been busted for drug and gun possession, they play music by Whitney Houston who was certainly on drugs during a period of her life. They even play music by R. Kelly and we know what sort of trouble he's been in with possibly having sex with underage girls and video taping them and whatever else!But now they don't want to play Chris Brown's music because he supposedly hit Rihanna!Now I'm not saying he's innocent, and I'm not saying what he did was right. But is that any reason for a radio station to boycott him? Especially when they're not boycotting any of these other artists who've done so many other horrible things?What do you think?

| | Radio Stations Pulling Chris Brown's Music | | I just heard about the story. The radio station in my hometown is considering pulling Chris Brown's music, because of the incident. Report say that Rihanna had bite marks and she was bloody. I don't know what actually happened between them, but if it is true, I agree that his music should be pulled. A person who beats on others male or female should not be idolized. Whether it was Rihanna or some girl down the street, wrong is wrong. | |

| | Who's That? | | Sometimes when I'm driving with my kids, I play "Name the Artist" with my oldest son. I listen to a soft rock station (it's one of the few family friendly stations I like listening to) that plays music from about every era, stuff like Elton John, Jon Secada, Rod Stewart, and even newer stuff like Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, etc etc. So a song comes on (I have to know it of course) and I ask my son "Who sings this?". If it's a newer artist he'll usually get it right. He knows Beyonce and Chris Brown music real well. Older stuff he rarely ever gets right, unless it's someone really popular like Michael Jackson or something. I always find it kind of funny that all these artists I grew up listening to, he doesn't know at all. Then there was the song "Candle in the Wind" by Elton John. I told him the song was about Marilyn Monroe, and he says "Who's that?"[em]shocked[/em][em]blink[/em]Do you play this game with your kids? Are you ever surprised about artists your kids don't know? | |

I didn't even follow the case so I don't even know if it turned out to be for sure true or if he was convicted or anything. I don't know if it was a one time, petty thing in an argument or if he seriously hurt her, or regularly. I just don't know what the situation was.But does it matter? Yeah, abuse is bad. Obviously. But he is not my boyfriend. He isn't in my personal life and I am not in his. So it's not my problem. I just listen to his music sometimes because I like the songs. The quality of his songs have nothing to do with his real life. He was already stopped and everyone heard about this. That's what he problem was for him. If you think you're punishing him by not listening to his music anymore, you're not. If you really like the music it will deprive you more than it will him. If Chris Brown comes out with new music that I don't want to listen to, I won't buy it. If I, or someone I care about, dates someone abusive I will have a problem with that. But the two are unrelated. For now I will continue to listen to Chris Brown music.What are you thoughts? | |

I think they were just pressured or forced to break up because the public needs them to do so.I feel sorry for them because it is obvious that they still love each other and they only communicate through their songs.I don't deny that rihanna was hurt and there is no excuse on what chris did but everyone deserves second chances to make things right and learn from their mistakes.For me, they both had issues or mistakes and the only way they can get closure is if they know they did everything to make the relationship work.
