| Middle Eastern Dance show that I went to Saturday Night! | | It was great! Fusion and purests were there, young and old. I thought latin dance plus middle eastern was great and so was modern dance and middle eastern dance. There was a dancer who danced with a stiff metalic vail. That was cool, it was like butterfly wings. There were students 1st, 2nd, 3rd year as well as instructors and professionals plus people who have been doing ME on and off for 10 years. I loved all the outfits. But the ones with many hanging beads, light blue satin and the group dance with different colors of velvet were incredible. The neon fishnet body suits were different. It went with the really strange music for the dance they did. Every 2xs a year that they do it, it's different. One year there were a lot of metal coins for costumes, this year, I didn't see any. Sometimes their are a lot of harem pants. This year, there were some. Every year, the cane dance is choreographed differently. One year they danced with candles. One year single sword and then next time was double sword dance. This year, not candles or swords. Lots of veil work this time. One time, backlit and in shadow behind a veil for the entire dance. Te video is just a group of 8 year old girls competing in a dance contest.They were dancing in the tune of single ladies by Beyonce. Well if you could make up your own dance how would it go and what would you name it? You could have one trainer to perfect it so that it could come to be the dance of the life time for you? | | Is Dance India Dance an original concept? | | In the recent years we had many shows on Television which were American/other nation's proprammes tailor made for the Indian audience. Indian Idol was taken from American Idol. The format, the cynisism, the rude judges, the music, the beginning of the show, everything is just entirely lifted from the American Idol. Another one is the Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain which had Shahrukh Khan hosting th show which is a copy or a straight lift of the American TV show "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?"One had Biggest Losser in India. We had the Big Brother and so many of Indian shows which have just lifted the original format the way it is not making any changes and just taking indian contestants in it.So in this scenario, Dance India Dance is a fresh air concept. It has an original concept which I dont think has been lifted from any other concept of some other nation? What do you think? | |

| Dance India Dance Vs Boogie Woogie | | Boogie Woogie was the first program to bring kids and adults on stage for dance. They were the only show which did not ridicule the contestants in any which way especially shown on T.V. Though it was purely a talent show, there was a sense of competition. And it is back for its 15th season. If there is any other show of that level or even beyond it would be Dance India Dance. No ridiculing, serious dance and talent is what is in the show. The judges are talented choreographers in the past two seasons and the third season running on the channels now. Both these shows have some seriously talented people performing. But then which do you prefer out of the two. | |
