myLot Discussions
the wee small hours
Hiya MyLottersWell it's 3.40 am and i can't get back off to sleep. I woke at 1am and watched a movie, now i am wide awake! What better to do when you can't sleep but to pop into MyLot and see waht your friends are up to. What do you do if you wake up in the wee small hours of the morning and can't get back to sleep?Alice:)
How do we fit everything in.?
After years of being a busy housewife it never fails to amaze me how we work all day and the next day it is the same state as before. We clean the kitchen, bathrooms, vacuum the carpets sweep the floors, then the laundry and ironing, cook the food and still have so much left to do.How do people work full time and keep a house as well, plus look after the children. How on earth can you manage all that. For a start many a night I have sat up with my son doing his course work till the wee small hours, making him snacks and keeping him going.Thats without all the work during the day,and the occasional coffee or walk out with friends. My mother never worked out side the home except for strawberry picking in the summer.Maybe I am just lucky not to have to work full time if I did my kids would suffer I am sure of that.
culling for real!!
hi there in the past few weeks myself & my neighbors have been getting a very big FLY problem. when i go out to the garage thru the alleyway between the 2 back flats OMG the stink. the huge stink well it was PIG POOH'S & WHEZE smell. in the wee small hours of Sunday AM a huge squeal of a pig. 3 of us had heard this noise & thought we were hearing things but we had talked in the am on the Monday & realized that we weren't imagining things & indeed we were hearing things. of course it was our long weekend here in OTAGO for Otago anniversary so Monday was a holiday so i rang & got an email sent to our tenancy manager @ HNZ for him to do some-thing about when he got into the office. the smell off pig & the dog going off all hours of the day & night & a few other things to boot. well me & my other neighbour got a hell of a fright when we were out chopping the wood out the back our tenancy manager @ HNZ bowled up the drive & said "where is the pig noises & poss killings happening in the garage etc....." when we told him where/ what we suspected he bowled on over to the neighbours via the barking dog & into the back flat. when he came back out about 5 mins later he told us...
Where Did She Go? A Story
Since there seems to be a trend here for posting stories or poems, I thought I'd join the bandwagaon...LOL. I wrote this story three years ago, while my mother was still alive and was going through a lot of turmoil with her. Most of my stories are REAL long...like twenty or more pages...this is one of my shorter stories. This story is copyrighted and appears over at The Virtual Studio website and the link is here.http://www.zoetrope.com/members/sub/index.cgi?section_id=1&action=read_one&file_id=82786 ©2005/ MELANIE NEER ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~I look up from what I've been so intensely doing for the last two hours, staring at the dancing, flickering flames of the two lit orange-colored candles set before me. I watch as the smoke playfully spirals upward from the stick of Jasmine incense. I've been writing. I do that a lot lately, usually in the wee small hours of the morning when I know I won't have any distractions. Writing has become one of my escapes to block out my mother's dismal existence for awhile.I turn my head for a moment, glancing over my shoulder into the living room where I...
Mylot accused of being "other person" by my wife!
According to my wife i spend too much time on mylot. i work, come home, eat dinner then i 'caress' mylot till the wee small hours!is my wife right to name mylot in the divorce papers?Do you spend to much to much time with your loved one, mylot?
Are You A Noisy Neighbor If You Do This??
Okay here is one of my thought provoking discussions to ponder about. This is especially geared for you people who are apartment dwellers..but heck it could apply to you who live in homes as well. I think everyone can agree, there's nothing more annoying than a noisy neighbor...you know...the one who plays music until the wee small hours of the morning...having loud raunchy parties until dawn...deciding to blow their bugle, horn, play their electric guitar late, bang on drums...I think we'll agree how annoying this is[em]angry[/em]But then it occurred to me...could I be accused of being a noisy neighbor about this?? You see, I don't get a chance to watch TV until the late wee small hours of the morning....and no, I DON'T have the TV loud....but something else might bother my downstairs neighbors...I have a habit of sitting on my bare wooden floors in front of the TV...it's late, it's quiet, save for the soft volume of my TV....and then..........[em]shocked[/em] While sitting on that bare, wooden floor in front of my TV I let out a loud kaboom...yes, folks..I make a humdinger of a fart..I've passed wind big time....that I'm surprised doesn't register a 8.00 on the Richter...
Does a particular object, picture, document or procedure inspire you to write?
Does a particular object, picture, document or procedure inspire you to write? Film director, screenwriter and playwright Neil LaBute draws inspiration from listening to Frank Sinatra's album, "In the Wee Small Hours." Even the cover art arouses his desire to write. Jonathan Franzen, author of "The Corrections," finds that his office chair -- an old, squeaky model he scavenged off the street in the early 80s -- can inspire him to press forward with his writing. The novelist Will Self has an intricate system of compiling information: he writes ideas, snippets of dialogue, and themes on Post-it notes; he then organizes them into scrapbooks and they eventually turn into books. How about you? Are there objects that you hold in high esteem that function as a muse for your writing? How about systems, procedures, and regimens? Do you have any? What serves as a source of inspiration for your writing?
What keeps you awake at night?
What keeps you awake at night? What sorts of things play on your mind more?If you're like most Americans, you've probably more than once found yourself up in the wee small hours, lying on your back, staring at the ceiling above your bed, having a little conversation with yourself. On the one hand, you're feeling pretty good about things. But on the other hand -- and this is why you're awake -- there are those nagging little questions that can get in the way of anyone's peace of mind: "Am I doing all that I should to protect my current lifestyle? Have I done enough to look after the people I love the most? Am I doing enough to take care of me?" a typical "everyday" concerns such as paying bills tend to distract people from thinking about their long-terms plans.what keeps me awake at night is the silence, my coffee, exercise and financial or other present problems.
In Like A Lion, Out Like a Lamb - So What’s All The Fuss About?
The old saying goes that “March comes in like a lion, and out like a lamb”. So what’s new? Ever since I can remember, that has been the case. There is always a high Spring Tide, and with it the stormy winds and rain come. Why does the media have to make so much fuss about it?In the early hours of this morning, storms hit Britain. The first to suffer these storms was southern Ireland, at 11.00 p.m., last night with gusts of 70 mph winds, followed in the wee small hours, by Pembrokeshire, in South Wales and the Devon coast with gusts of up to 82 mph. The storms spread quickly across Britain, affecting the whole of the south coast, and as far up the east coast as Ipswich, in Suffolk., leaving fallen trees, damaged buildings, pebble-strewn coastal roads, and floods, in their wake. Fierce, high waves crashed over sea walls and sea defences, causing flooding and transport chaos. Power was lost in many homes in Wales and the West Country and a caravan park had to be evacuated in Devon. All of this was the “norm”, for this time of the year. The Spring Tide always comes at the same time, and the storms always come with it. None of this was unexpected and none of the damage was...
