myLot Discussions| camping | | do you prefer camping or caravans? i recently went on a camping trip with my son and his footie tea(and other parents)and it was so much fun. The kids kept themselves entertained fishing while we had bbq and booze.
| | Travel by Camel? | | I was just sitting here watching "The Mummy" while I am posting here on Mylot. There was a scene where Brendan Fraser and his friends are riding through the desert on camels. People of the desert used to travel by camels in caravans to cross the deserts where they lived. It actually looked like a fairly comfortable way to travel. I have never actually done it, but I think I would like to. It looks a lot more comfortable than traveling by horse. I am not a big fan of sand, so I probably wouldn't like traveling through the desert, but I wouldn't mind taking a day-trip somewhere by camel. What do you think? Have you ever had the opportunity to ride a camel for travel? Would you like to do it? | |
| | Rag and Bone Men - Gypsies, Travellers & the Right to Roam | | I felt quite pleased to have taken the photo that accompanies this discusson. A few years ago you would have seen 'Gypsies' regularly collecting scrap from my local neighbourhood.(Google U.K or wikipedia for gyspy info) for I wish I had a voice recording of their holler - Aannnyyyole Rag 'n' bo -o-o-o-ne.In the U.K there has been some sort of attempt to malign people who choose to live thier live as travellers insomuch they no longer travel, they choose to live in caravans/trailers in deignate sites, usually near to awful places like Industrial estates and Motorways.A lot of people in my country hate people who live like this, refer them to in a derogtary way and I would like to know a question on what people think about this situation?Should people be allowed to live like Nomads'?

| | What is your favorite Top Gear episode of all time? | | There are just so many good episodes. At first, I thought that this season was off to a bit of a slow start, but then the last few episodes have just been outstanding! So now, I'm not sure if my favorite episode of all time is the drive across africa or the one where they destroy The Caravans? This season seems more formulaic, but it is a formula that works! | |
| | What's the biggest party you've been at? | | The biggest one i've ever been to was out in woop woop in the country somewhere. There was acres and acres of land and there would have been about 500 people there. There were caravans and tents set up everywhere and there was a band playing. It was so much fun. A bunch of us went up the hill so the people on the ground were small they looked like ants. We hung around up there for a couple of hours then came back and danced to the band. It was so much fun, except the drive home the next day was not:-/ | |
| | Is it me, or are the Democratic candidates for the Presidency hypocrites? | | Seriously, when it comes to the environment/glocal warming, these people say one thing and do something entirely different! John Edwards tells everyone to anandom their SUVs, yet he drives/owns 2! And that's not to mention his flying everywhere in private jets, and a 10,000+ square foot mansion for what, 3 family members? Clinton and Gore are the same way, and Obama isn't any different, either. If they traveled in caravans of Prius vehicles and flew commercial, I might give them more credit, but their antics are seriously hypocritical. Thoughts? | |
| | 14 car pile up! | | This big pile up of cars occured approximately 15 minutes drive from where I live yesterday.
A semi truck was travelling down hill on a very main road, when the brakes failed. The semi careeded further down, then jackknifed. It crossed two lines, hitting 17 cars in the process. It ended up crashing into a caravan sales yard, damaging 7 caravans. Very luckily, this was not at peak hour traffic, and only 14 people were injured.

| | Travel the Kimberleys | | How many of you actually have travelled the Kimberleys??There are some beautiful spots to be found! If you have been up there, have you got to see Beagle Bay, Cape Leveque, Middle Lagoon, One Arm Point? These places are all on the coast, they are mostly only 4wd accessed, because of the gravel, sand tracks.
Beagle Bay is an aborginal town and its so clean and amazing. They have a beautiful church which is recommended to see! The church is white but the inside is even more beautiful. I wont say what it is because it will spoil the surprise. When you do view inside please do leave a donation. This will help maintain the church. I think you will agree with me when you do see it.
Middle Lagoon, is another hidden away place to be explored. There is caravan park and yes you can bring in your caravan. Nearby is a Bird Park and its really worth going there, just to see the huge trees and tree ferns and lots of butterflies fluttering around in the wild! The birds are amazing. But Middle Lagoon its self has great fishing, they do have hire boats so you dont need to bring one. The Middle Lagoon has everyone amazed, But you need to see it for yourself to know what I am talking...
