myLot Discussions| Why God Closes Doors | | A blockaded opportunity is a useful teaching tool. God's ultimate objective is to mold us into the image of His Son, and toward that end, He at times prevents us from doing or having something we desire.1. Closed doors prevent mistakes. Just because a path is clear does not mean it is the one God intends for us to follow. sometimes we won't have the information we need to make a wise decision, so He bars the way either spiritually or physically. The Holy Spirit can see the whole road map for our lives, which is why we are to follow His guidance.2. Closed doors redirect our walk. Rest assured, God never leaves a willing servant with nothing to do. The alternate opportunity He has in mind will yield bigger fruit, more satisfaction, and greater glory for Him.3. Closed doors test faith and build perseverance. Waiting for the Lord to speak or act is hard, particularly when our desire has been denied. But we'll learn wisdom, patience, and trust by pausing prayerfully until He reveals His will.4. Closed doors buy us time. We are not always as prepared as we'd like to think. God may temporarily hold shut an opportunity for service until a believer is properly equipped...
| | Associated Content, Helium closes its doors to international writers! | | I have sad news for all non-US writers out there who write for Associated Content (AC) and/or Helium (I'm posting it here, so I won't have to post under both AC and Helium):First, for AC writers: A few minutes ago I received an email message from AC saying that "Contributors who are not enrolled as a Featured Contributor, or are not accepted into this program, will not longer be able to earn Performance Payments from[AC] as of May 1, 2010" A final payout will be given out by AC on May 12 for page views through April 30, if you qualify for the $1.50 minimum. This pretty much means, for us international writers, that AC will be off-limits for us anymore starting May:([I'm not even considering the Featured Contributors program, since you have to file a W-8BEN tax form, etc, which is quite a hassle.]For Helium writers:
I've observed that I've been having trouble logging in to my Helium account for the past week. When I emailed help@helium, they responded by saying that "there are regions primarily in the far east that we had to block users from creating and or logging onto an account". I emailed them again, asking them if users from the Philippines were blocked from...
| | Do you like to have your curtains in the windows and doors? | | I am one of those who like and love to see
curtains hang on the windows and doors.
Specially if that is my favorite colors
and designs admired to see it always.
What about you there, are you also with
me in this idea? Some people don't want to
have this in their house it can cause
mosquitoes to play on. What can you say about
this; is it true? How do you find it now?
| | Why do humans have sex behind closed doors and animals in the open | | Hey any bright ideas, come up with your answer. Just to brief you about this Discussion, Humans always have sex behind closed doors and animals like dogs do it in the open? What is the logic behind this, please explain.my Helium account for the past week. When I emailed help@helium, they responded by saying that "there are regions primarily in the far east that we had to block users from creating and or logging onto an account". I emailed them again, asking them if users from the Philippines were blocked from Helium. And my reply was "Yes. That is one of the regions that has been blocked,"(okay, so the Philippines is just one country, but I'm having an inkling we're not just the non-US country being blocked from accessing the site.)I'm quite devastated right now. I just started exploring both AC and Helium (started just 3 months or so ago), and of course I was excited at the prospect of writing for both sites, only to be faced with this:(I'm also quite disappointed with Helium. I find it quite underhanded of them to just start blocking accounts without prior notice. At least AC had the decency to inform their users... | |

| | Real friends fix doors | | I've lived in this house for 26 years. During that time I've not had too many problems with the doors, but we did have one door pull off the top hinge and had to get a handy guy to fix it.He told me that if I glued golf tees in the holes, that would work to give you a fresh start.Well, we had a bathroom door hitting on the top and the office door dragging on the floor.I figured that if we planed them, they would stop. A few weeks ago we went to Lowe's and got a plane, some paint and a few other things. We didn't get the doors done, tho. Then, last week, the bathroom door didn't just keep hitting, it ripped out its top hinge!Well, we were sort of stuck, either we could shut the door and keep it shut until we could fix it, or we could take off the bottom hinge to keep it from ripping out. After a bit of thinking about it, I unscrewed the bottom hinge too.So, Saturday, our friend J, came over and helped us. We got some wood filler and filled in all 6 holes on the bathroom door with golf tees so we could then drill new ones so the door sat in the frame about a half inch lower. While that was drying, we pulled the office door off and planed the bottom. J... | |
| | Do you gently close doors or slammed it? | |
Just a quick idea comes to my mind when one of my co-flatmate close the door in a wrong way. She slammed the door without any reason at all. I dont know if she is mad or angry or if there is any situation that she is thinking of. However, I found that attitude is not the proper way to act especially if you are living in a flat or just renting a room.
| | Opening Doors! Do You Open Your Door Without Knowing Who It Is?? | | When someone knocks on your door, or rings your bell, if you don't have a peep hole or a window to see out of the door, do you open your door without asking who it is? Is that too much trust or perhaps dangerous to your safety? What are your thoughts?turday, our friend J, came over and helped us. We got some wood filler and filled in all 6 holes on the bathroom door with golf tees so we could then drill new ones so the door sat in the frame about a half inch lower. While that was drying, we pulled the office door off and planed the bottom. J was pleasantly surprised I had bought the right tools for the job and about 20 minutes of planing got the door so it now opens and closes smoothly.I mean, if the floor was even a tiny bit DIRTY, this dumb door scraped in one place, now it opens and shuts like a dream! After we were done with that, J went over and cut the tees off level with the door, we cut out a bit for the hinge to fit into the door in a new spot and 30 minutes later we had the door up again! It took less than 2 hours to do both doors and even J said he had guessed it would take a LOT longer. He also said the golf tees were a... | |
| | Locking taxicab doors --- do you always do this? | | Going to and from the office, I usually take a taxicab as I have stopped driving. There have been reported incidents of robberies on the road and taxicab passengers are no longer spared from it.Do you make it a point to lock all doors as soon as you get in a taxicab? Why or why not? | |
| | bedroom doors and friendship | | My housemate and I recently got into a disagreement because I lock my bedroom's door every time I sleep. She thinks I'm closing her out and I'm doing things I'm not supposed to do inside. So because I was irked, I told her that what I do in my bedroom is none of her business. I have every right to have my own privacy.Right now we're still not talking to each other. I really feel that I have a valid point. We're friends but I think I could only share so much of my life to her.I think we're having too much of each other.I don't want to lose my friendship with her and I can't afford to pay the rent by myself. | |
