| | Cause You Don't Really Love Me, You Just Keep Me Hanging On | | Ha! I like that song, but I digress. There a few girls that I've had crushes on that had boyfriends. However, their boyfriends were jerks. They'd break up with them whenever another girl came along. And as soon as me or any other boy showed an interest in them, or things didn't work out with the other girl, they came running back. That always bothered the crap out of me. It's like they didn't want the girl, but they didn't want anyone else to have her either. Feel free to share your thoughts and experiences. | |
| | Why do you keep playing all that yaya music that I hate... | | I was washing dishes last night and I started to sing I am living in shame by Dianna Ross and the supremes. I remember when it first came out and I was just a young girl. I loved it.My grandmother whom I lived with couldn't understand it and she hated the music of my generation. She called it yaya music, which she got from the beatles song, she loves you yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah.It really showed the generation gap between. Can you explain a situation in your life where there is a big generation gap between yourself and your parents? | |
| | Doesn't anyone remember Eddie Murphy/ Dreamgirls & Male PROSTITUTES?? | | I am shocked how no-one has brought up the fact that he used to pick up male prostitutes who dressed up as women! I just saw Barbara walters talking about how she is so wonderful because she landed an interview with him, and I just wanted to shake her and say---YEAH, because you promised not to bring up the fact that he's been arrested for this, and prior to that, the rumors about him and transvestite prostitutes were all over the place. Oh well, people have short short memories, and maybe that's a good thing. | |
| | Sarah and the Supremes | | In the latest installment of Katie Couric's interview with Sarah Palin, Katie asked Sarah besides Roe V Wade, what other Supreme Court decisions she had disagreed with. She gave a rather long, drawn-out answer in which she named one Supreme Court decision - Roe V Wade! Initially I thought I shouldn't make too much of this; I mean, while there have been many famous Supreme Court decisions that most of us probably learned about in school, I could see myself drawing a blank if I were asked a question like this out of the blue on nation television. Granted, while I did wait by my phone for the call from Barack Obama that never came, I'm not running for Vice President of the United States, but what the heck - even as Governor of Alaska, what effect did anything the Supreme Court did really have on Sarah Palin? I first thought of Bush V Gore, but then I remembered the keyword "disagree", which she probably didn't. So, what's the big deal, what Supreme Court decisions would she have even given a thought to...OOPS:http://gov.state.ak.us/archive-64028.htmlNo. 07-213Governor Reacts to Supreme Court’s Decision to Hear AppealOctober 29, 2007, Juneau, Alaska – Governor... | |
| | Motown -- The Soundtrack to My Life! What's Yours? | | Oh my gosh, I so loved the music of Jackson 5, Michael Jackson, Smokey Robinson, the Supremes, Stevie Wonder! I was a teenager in the sixties and so some of my soundtrack was Janis Joplin, Jefferson Airplane, Jimi Hendrix, the Beatles. So much was my soundtrack psychedelia and such that I almost forgot how very much of it really was Motown! I owned all those records, it seems like! And Michael Jackson, he spanned the decades and was a huge part of my kids' soundtrack as well!Tell me about your life's soundtrack. What music and which artists? | |
| | Bush vs. Gore Attorneys Sue to Halt Prop 8 | | They were on opposite sides back in 2000 when Bush vs. Gore went to the U.S. Supreme Court; now they've teamed up and hope to end up before the Supremes again, this time in opposition to California's Prop. 8.http://cbs5.com/local/gay.marriage.proposition.2.1020986.htmlTheodore Olson of Washington, D.C., and David Boies of Armonk, N.Y. are representing two gay couples in the federal suit which argues that Proposition 8 violates the U.S. constitutional guarantee of equal protection and due process. Olson, who was President Bush's Solicitor General during his first term, said he hopes the case goes all the way to the Supreme Court. A favorable ruling would mean same sex marriages would be legal in all states. Any thoughts? I say let's get it over with, let people marry who they want to marry and move on. Either way I'll still be celebrating my 40th anniversary in November.

| | Should a Con-con occur in the U.S.of A.? | | Con-con is short for Constitutional Convention. As Washington wrote in his Farewell Address (I'll paraphrase):People if you value your freedom, do not trust a two-party system. It is susceptible to corruption by clever minds domestically and internationally. Your freedom will be compromised or destroyed. That said, be slow to choose violent revolution, rarely does it end with positive results. Value your Constitution because it has the provision to Amend when, not if, there are abuses in power.
(End paraphrase.)There has been a little protest called Tea parties since the Bank bailouts before and after the election called Tea Parties. (I've not had time to follow.) Our 13 colonies' original revolution was over "taxation without representation." The small time taxes, like the paper tax, was an example of the day. Was there a tea tax? (Have not had time to tea tax point, either...)Be clear. We are way over $10 trillion in debt. Servicing debt makes us less free...
